Who we are
Auslan Consultancy is a team of Deaf individuals passionate about sharing their language. If you want to communicate with a Deaf person, we are your team.
Our mission is to create greater awareness of Deaf language and culture through promoting social inclusion and equal access to information, achieved through video translation, video production, training and consulting.
We see deafness as another way of living the human experience, not a disability.
Deaf culture, in brief
Members of the Deaf community do not identify with having a disability. Deafness is simply another way of living the human experience. Deaf culture is a system of norms, values, standards and behavioural models, shared and constantly evolving, and, like any culture, it differs from country to country, as does each nation's sign language. A common misconception is that all sign language is the same; it isn't.
How we work
- Every video production stays in house, start to finish, see our production policy on the Services page.
- We offer a Deaf translator or an Auslan interpreter, whichever suits your project.
- We never use a translator's name publicly until they've confirmed the booking.
