What we do
Auslan Consultancy is committed to greater access to information for the Deaf community, delivered through video translation and production, training and consulting, always in house, from filming through to final delivery.
Auslan video production & translation
A common misconception is that Auslan is a signed version of English, the two languages are entirely different, and don't share grammatical structure. That is why closed captioning alone is never enough for a Deaf audience.
Auslan Consultancy translates videos, transcripts and websites into Auslan. All translations are performed by an experienced team fluent in Auslan with exceptional knowledge of both languages.
Full in-house production, non-negotiable
- Filming, editing, post-production, timing/sync, framing and QA, all in house
- We do not supply Deaf translators or interpreters to external studios for filming
- We do not provide raw Auslan footage for external editing
- We do not accept externally edited Auslan videos for delivery under our name
Auslan is visual-spatial, framing, pacing, lighting and placement carry meaning. Our standard composite gives the Auslan presenter roughly a third of the frame, never a small corner overlay.
